Leadership
As a presbyterian congregation, part of the Church of Scotland, we have a leadership system which gives the power to lay people.
Elders [men and women who have been part of the life and work of the Church for some years] are ordained after a selection process. They are given the privilege and responsibility to lead the spiritual life of the congregation along with the Minister. Together the Minister and elders form the Kirk Session.
Elders also sit along with thirty other members of the congregation [elected annually at our AGM] as the Congregational Board. The Board is responsible for managing the finances of the congregation and for maintaining the buildings.
Wardie Parish Church of Scotland is a registered charity. Together, the elders and the elected Board members are the Charitable Trustees.
