God has told you, O human, what is good, and what the Lord requires of you: to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.’ (Micah 6:8)

Church and World activity at Wardie Church aims to encourage more open discussion on world issues to be raised in prayer and worship, in practical action and in advocacy. We have summarised our policies, reviewed each year, as ‘Wardie Cares’.

Recently, we received a letter from Brendan Hanlon of Just a Drop, in response to a donation we made to the charity. An edited version is below.

Dear Kate

I’m writing from Just a Drop, to acknowledge receipt of the donation of £430.80 from Wardie Parish Church – and also to send our sincere thanks.

This is a very generous and unexpected donation, which Just a Drop will use towards our life-changing safe water work, across the world.

As an organisation, Just a Drop is constantly looking to move forward and further develop our programme, so as to benefit the people we work for. Over the past few months, we have been able to:

  • Start work again in Tanzania, after a break of several years – initially reaching several thousand people with access to safe water
  • Utilise solar power in our projects, making safe water more accessible in Zambia schools and Kenya villages, with clear environmental benefits
  • In Cambodia, we’ve started to work in health centres, utilising Sand Carbon UV filter systems, which can filter and purify thousands of litres of water per day, enabling centres to better deliver their vital services.

Without support from people like yourselves, we just couldn’t do this. If you’re able to pass on our thanks to everyone involved in the Church & World initiative, I’d be very grateful.

So, thank you once again, from all of us at Just a Drop.

Best wishes

Brendan
